My first acting gig was performing a one-woman rendition of The Little Mermaid for a small group of fourth graders in the back of a school bus in Brooklyn (musical numbers included).  From there, my career mostly consisted of doing voices for the amusement of family and friends, from Wakko Warner to my mother--until college.

Upon meeting me, people are often shocked to learn that I have a strong track record of playing very dark characters in spite of my incredibly sunny disposition (see above photo). If you take a look at my acting reel, it's nothing but laughs: a crumbling marriage, a young woman in the aftermath of a hit-and-run accident, and an Iraqi war prison interrogation gone awry.  On stage, you're more likely to have seen me in over-the-top character roles, from the psychedelic Gwen in Lanford Wilson's Fifth of July to Aunt Augusta's various foreign male lovers in Travels With My Aunt (I went to a women's college).  The uniting factor in all of these is honesty; above all else, I'm always looking to create something people can recognize themselves in and relate to.

With that in mind, I recently found myself looking to do something more personal.  Soon I'll be premiering No Method, a web series which I'm both writing and starring in (in the grand tradition of self-centered actors).  And in even scarier news, I'll also be making my stand-up debut.

I'm excited and terrified, but mostly looking forward to what you all think.
